There was joy and relief in Södertalje on Thursday night as Telge Basket won their first game in EuroCup Women Group E with a dramatic 71-69 win against Horizont.

The win was made even sweeter since the Swedish hosts had to overturn a double-digit deficit which had seen them trail 52-42 midway through the third quarter.

Having looked like the game was slipping away, Telge Basket launched a fight-back, firstly levelling matters at 60-60 thanks to a triple from 16-year-old Regan Magarity, and then eventually going ahead 71-69 via the outstanding 24-point Angelique Robinson.

They did have to dodge the possibility of a potentially sickening finale as Horizont had the chance to win the game or at least force overtime, but Kristina Alikina couldn't finish off an otherwise good night's work by making the vital shot. She finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, whilst the losing team also had a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds from Aleksandra Khomenchuk.

MBK Ruzomberok are still searching for a first victory of the campaign in Group H after blowing a big opportunity against visiting Antakya. With the game tied heading into the last ten minutes, they imploded and allowed their opponent a 16-4 start to the final period which proved fatal as they were beaten 70-62 - despite a massive 31 points from Sequoia Holmes.

Unfortunately for the Slovakian club, Antakya had Jolene Anderson in even better form as she poured in 32 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and dished up five assists for her best performance of the season so far.

Revenge was served up cold by Olimpia in Group B after they shrugged off their loss on the same floor 48 hours earlier against TED Ankara to land a convincing 69-54 blow on their Turkish opponent to claim a first success of the season.

Maryia Filonchyk stood out for the Belarus club with 24 points and six rebounds and she was well supported by Ukrainian forward Tetiana Shchypakina who matched her previous highest score of the season with 17 points.

And, it was a good job the duo were on form since their team-mates were a woeful combined 4-of-34, although with TED Ankara also misfiring in spectacular fashion and shooting a terrible sub-27%, they were able to take the victory with relative comfort despite the best efforts of Marcedes Walker who had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Also in Group B, Hainaut Basket routed Lotto Young Cats 86-42, with the win assured by the interval after a stunning 57-24 opening half. Spanish guard Laura Garcia wasn't far away from a triple-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists.

Mersin managed to lock down Spartak Noginsk in the final quarter to crawl to an edgy but priceless 50-46 road win in Group C.

The visitors held their hosts to a meagre eight points during the final ten minutes to eek out the victory, headlined by 17 points from Shavonte Zellous and a mammoth 17 rebounds by Erlana Larkins. The losing team were again led by Anna Tolikova but her 11 points and 13 rebounds wasn't enough to prevent a second loss in three games.

In Group F, reigning champions Dynamo Kursk had no problems to see off Dunav 8806, 99-70, as five players scored in double figures. Michelle Snow and Eshaya Murphy led the scoring with 21 points apiece, with the former also adding 11 rebounds.
