Shengelia is another Georgian player who will arrive in Zagreb with something of a point to prove. The Laboral Kutxa Baskonia forward was one of his national team's standout performers in 2011 as they marked their first appearance at the competition with an 11th-placed finish. Then just 19 years old, Shengelia averaged 8.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in eight games in Lithuania. Such performances caught the eye of the NBA and the forward spent a season-and-a-half with the Brooklyn Nets, where he 36 appearances, before a short stint with the Chicago Bulls. He returned to Europe with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in 2014 before playing a huge role in ensuring his country qualified for a third consecutive EuroBasket. He led Georgia with 18.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during that campaign. Then, with Baskonia, reached the EuroLeague Top 16, before finishing sixth in the Spanish top-flight.
