Basik, nicknamed "Beso", is a member of the 1986 generation of Georgia that manufactured Sanikidze, Manuchar Markoishvili and Giorgi Tsintsadze, and always played alongside them in national youth teams. Yet, his talents did not take him as far as his aforementioned teammates and apart from a short stint in France with Dijon and one season in Cyprus, Beso has played all of his pro ball in Georgia. His sharpshooting, consistently between 38% and 40% from the arc in recent years, won him a spot back with the golden generation again, this time with the senior team. Last summer he wore the national team jersey one more time, and despite a limited role in 2012 he is back in the race for what could be his debut EuroBasket performance.
