Tina Jovanovic poured in a game-high 33 points for Serbia. Jovanovic also pulled down 14 of Serbia's 33 rebounds and dished out three assists. Serbia trailed 58-56 going into the final stanza but outscored their opponents 24-18 over the next 10 minutes to seal the win. Sabine Niedola led Latvia with 30 points on 14 of 18 (77.8%) shooting from inside the arc. They finished eight of 21 (38.1%) while Latvia were four of 14 (28.6%). Defending champions Lithuania survived a late come-back from Ukraine to win 84-82. Trailing 69-51 late in the third quarter, Ukraine went on a 26-8 run over the next nine minutes to cut the deficit 80-77 but then ran out of steam. Ukraine's Ol'ha Maznichenko led all scorers with 29 points. Lithuania out-rebounded Ukraine 46-39. Ukraine will take on Latvia in the battle for seventh place on Sunday. |
