Medvedenko Gives Ukraine A Boost

19.07.2005

Los Angeles Lakers forward Stanislav Medvedenko has agreed to play for Ukraine in the EuroBasket in September.

A report in Sport-Express newspaper claims that Medvedenko will join coach Hennadiy Zaschuk's training camp on August 1 as Ukraine prepare to play three friendly matches with Poland.

However, Zaschuk will be without Seattle Supersonics center Vitaly Potapenko who has retired from the national team and there are also doubts over the availability of Grigoriy Khizhnyak, who left training without permission to sign for Russian side Dynamo St Petersburg.

Forward Serhiy Lischuk is expected to return from a training camp with the Memphis Grizzlies in the United States to join Ukraine on Thursday.
