Following the meeting of the FIBA Europe Board in November 2002, it was decided that a new system of qualification would be implemented for the 2005 European Championship for Men.
Sleepy Greece didn't wake up until the second half, was trailing 20 points behind Ukraine but managed to close the gap in the third quarter and win it in the fourth. Final score 79-73.
Two teams, Croatia and Ukraine, were looking for their first victory in today's game. Croatia with an impressive performance against Greece yesterday where they were only two seconds from victory. And Ukraine that for long fought hard against Turkey.
But today the two teams started out slowly. Both teams had problems hitting the basket which kept the score down. The first quarter ended 15-15.
In spite of a rather slow and uninspired start Turkey manage to win over Ukraine. But the Ukrainian team is a team of fighters so it wasn't an easy win.
The Turkish team had a massive support but didn't do very well in the first quarter. Ukraine on the other hand played both smart and quick. The Turkish team improved its speed in the second quarter, playing with more power, but still not good enough to threaten Ukraine.
