Ukrainian guard Alina Iagupova was presented with her FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year trophy ahead of her EuroBasket Women debut in Vannes.
Presented by FIBA Board member Lena Wallin-Kantzy, she took receipt of the accolade which was won after a vote by fans and selected media.
And, despite Ukraine slipping to a one-sided loss against Turkey, Iagupova took time to reflect on the achievement of joining an exclusive list of winners.
"It's special of course," said the 21-year-old.
"It can give me more confidence and it‘s very good for me just to think about how proud I am to win this."
Iagupova beat off Sweden's Farhiya Abdi and Spanish guard Queralt Casas, who is also debuting at EuroBasket Women in Vannes.
It was Iagupova who led Ukraine to a spot in France, finishing with a team high 14.3 points per game and an impressive 6.3 rebounds during qualification.
She then turned her attention to the U20 European Championship in Debrecen where she took Ukraine to the quarter-finals and cemented a place in the All-Tournament Team with an astonishing 26.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and three steals a night.
