Ukraine Claim Fifth Place, Turkey Seventh


Alina Iagupova and Olesia Malashenko combined for 45 points to lead Ukraine to an 82-64 victory over Lithuania to claim fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Burcu Cigli and Safiye Karaman both scored 13 points and Ozge Yavas added 12 points as Turkey knocked off Serbia 68-46 to finish seventh in the tournament.

Iagupova collected 24 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and six steals while Malashenko had 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Ukraine, who also received 14 points and eight rebounds from Olga Maznichenko.

Gintare Mazionyte and Lina Pikcuite each scored 14 points and Egle Siksniute added 10 points for Lithuania.

Helping Turkey to their win were Ayse Derici, who had eight points and 10 rebounds, and Esra Ural, who collected 13 rebounds and three blocks.

No Serbian player scored in double figures with Sandra Boskovic hitting for eight points while Ana Radovic grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss.
