Olesia Malashenko collected a double-double to keep alive Ukraine's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the U20 European Championship for Women with an 86-73 victory over the Netherlands.

Malashenko had 24 points and 11 rebounds while Alina Iagupova added 19 points, six rebounds and eight assists in helping Ukraine improve to 1-3 in the qualifying round Group E. Olga Maznichenko scored 18 points and Kateryna Rymarenko chipped in 16 points.

The Netherlands dropped to 1-3 in the group despite 24 points and eight rebounds from Natalie van den Adel and 22 points from Maaike Klein.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with Ukraine getting a 6-0 run only to have the Dutch answer with eight straight points. Ukraine however reeled off a 14-0 spurt for a 31-20 advantage after one quarter.

The Netherlands trailed by 15 points midway through the second quarter before closing the half with the final 18 points for a 45-42 lead.

Neither side could open a big gap in the third quarter, which finished with Ukraine ahead 62-59.

But a 7-0 run early in the fourth pushed the lead to 10 points and the Dutch would not get closer than seven points the rest of the way.
