Spain joined Russia in securing a semi-finals spot of the U20 European Championship for Women by streaking past Ukraine 81-59 to remain undefeated in Sulmona.
Jael Freixanet's 20 points paced three players in double figures as Spain improved to 4-0 setting up Thursday's showdown with Russia to decide who takes top honours in Group F.
Gaby Ocete scored 14 points, Anna Carbo added 10 and Aauri Bokesa chipped in six points and 12 rebounds. All told, 11 Spanish players scored at least two points and 10 grabbed a rebound.
Ukraine were led by Oksana Kisilova and Taisiia Bovykina, both of whom scored 12 points.
The game was tied at 2-2 when Spain went on their first run, a 12-0 surge which never really stopped as Spain forced eight first quarter Ukraine turnovers and ran the fast break to perfection in buiding a 27-9 lead after one period.
Freixanet's basket made it a 20-point game before Ukraine cut it to 29-16 on Arina Lysyuk's three-pointer. The Iberians then starting bombing from outside as Berta Sinol and Carla Agullo hit from long range to open a 44-19 lead. Ukraine were able to trim the deficit to 48-28 at the break.
The outside barrage continued early in the second half with Noelia Oliva hitting two treys and Freixanet joining the fun as the Spanish bench celebrated a 30-point lead 58-28 less than two minutes into the third. And a Freixanet basket made it 69-52 before Spain led 71-42 going into the fourth.
Ukraine did not give up and eventually pulled to within 20 points at 77-57 on Kateryna Kovalova's lay-up with five minutes left. But the Spaniards would not let the Ukrainians get any closer.
