Hosts Hungary powered their way through to the next phase of the OSTCHEM U20 European Championship Women in Sopron with a convincing 92-63 win over Ukraine on Sunday.
Defending champions France also joined Hungary in progressing out of Group B after recording a 64-43 win over Israel earlier in the day.
If the Ukrainians had prevailed then there would have been a three-way tie and goal difference in the games between those sides would have decided who took the first two places.
Hungary made all that academic though by trouncing Ukraine in fine style to claim their third successive win in the tournament.
The home side were in charge virtually from tip-off, establishing a 16-7 lead early on before stretching that to 26-15 by the end of the opening period.
Hungary continued to pull further clear throughout the contest as Ukraine saw their hopes of a top-two spot vanish.
The defeat was tough on Ukraine forward Ganna Zarytska who top-scored with 29 points - over twice as many as Hungary's leading scorer Viktoria Vincze, who contributed 14 points.
