Lithuania, with their stingy defense, defeated Turkey 70-55 in the final day of preliminary round play at the UMCOR U18 European Championship Men in Argostoli, Greece.
The Baltic giants concluded their preliminary round play with a perfect 3-0 record.
Four players tallied double-digit scoring for Lithuania, led by Marius Valukonis’ 17.

But it was Lithuania’s defense which was the key to the game as Turkey was held to 29.5 percent shooting from the field.
Baris Hersek, who is considered one of Turkey's top prospects and scored 17 points in his team’s win over Latvia yesterday, was limited to just five points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field against Lithuania.
“We knew entering play that we had to play good defense,” said Lithuanian coach Rutjanis Paulauskas.
“Hersek was the player we were really concentrating on and I think today we succeeded against him.”
Lithuania took a 34-31 lead into halftime but took control of the game with an 11-0 run in the second half.
Both countries advance to the quarter-final round beginning on Saturday.
Latvia 101, Ukraine 93
Latvia won their first game of the competition with a 101-93 win over Ukraine.
Kristaps Kanbergs scored 19 points for the victors and Einars Tukiss added 17.
Latvia finished third in Group A and Ukraine fourth, so both countries will compete in the classification round.
