France Finish Fifth

France held off Croatia for a 69-62 win to take fifth place at EuroBasket 2009 in Katowice on Sunday.

Antoine Diot scored 18 points and Nando de Colo added 15 as the French used a 9-0 run in the first quarter to break a 9-9 score and they did not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

Croatia, France For Fifth

Having secured their berths for next year's World Championship, both France and Croatia will look to give their less heralded players a chance to shine in the 5th-6th place game at EuroBasket 2009 on Sunday.

The French booked their place in Turkey for next summer after overcoming a 19-point first half deficit to beat none other than the Turks themselves, 80-68.
