Not long ago, point guard Damir Mulaomerovic was behind the wheel of the Mean Green Machine, helping Panathinaikos seize another European crown.

Two years later, as a member of Greek rivals PAOK Thessaloniki, he's doing his best to derail Zeljko Obradovic's all-conquering unit.

Mulaomerovic, who's been red hot in the FIBA Europe League, unleashed his arsenal against his former team on Sunday to give PAOK a famous 78-77 victory.

Practically everything the Croatian star threw up on the night went in. He finished with 31 points, which included a barrage of three-pointers. He also had six assists, four rebounds and two steals.

The Croatian sensation made four of six from behind the arc, the last coming with two and a half minutes to play to give PAOK a 72-68 advantage. When Obradovic's men remained close, Mulaomerovic beat them from the free throw line in the final sixty-four seconds.

He made five free throws to seal the win.

Mulaomerovic has already been voted player of the week in the FIBA Europe League and would be the favourite to win most valuable player honours in Greece if the voting were to take place today.

He has averaged better than 21 points a game in so far, and leads the league in assists with 43.

Only PAOK team-mate Konstantinos Vassiliadis has more three-pointers (29) than Mulaomerovic (25). The win was PAOK's fifth in eight games and lifted them to fourth in the HEBA Championship.

In addition to PAOK, the other three FIBA Europe League sides - Telestet Maroussi, Aris Thessaloniki and Peristeri - were all winners at the weekend.

Maroussi have yet to lose in Greece and top the table with seven wins in as many games after a 94-90 triumph at Panionios on Sunday, with Roderick Blakney pouring in a game-high 23 points.

Aris hammered visitors Apollon Patras 83-58 and Peristeri were 70-66 victors over Makedonikos.

Olympiacos thrashed Ilisiakos 92-66 and AEK Athens edged Iraklis 76-70.
