|Lovro Mazalin took over to score 23 points as Croatia reversed their fortunes to beat previously unbeaten Spain |
Croatia have begun to show the form that last year saw them win the U16 European Championship, beating the previously undefeated Spain 79-67.
With the game evenly poised at half-time, Lukas Mazalin came to life in the third quarter, picking up 10 points to turn a three-point advantage into an 11-point buffer heading into the final frame.
Spain struggled to contain the inside threat from Croatia with 62 of the Croats' points coming inside the paint. In comparison, Spain could only manage 26.
Mazalin ended with 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the floor. Luka Bozic helped out with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Marc Garcia and Marc Bauza were the only Spanish player to make double figures, scoring 14 and 10 points respectively.
Croatia go looking for their third consecutive win against Latvia tomorrow, whilst Spain complete day five action in Ventspils when they take on Turkey.
