Croatia's globetrotter Markota is the type of multi-talented forward Croatian coaches always said they long awaited, but he has yet to perform for his country up to that hype. He uses size, quickness and athleticism to pull down rebounds, while his excellent three-point range can spread the opposing defences. However, even though this 2.09m forward is not gun-shy, Markota is a below 30% three-point shooter when playing for the national team. In addition, issues with temperament and some of his off-court decisions and with injuries, have been the main reason a hugely talented player has been on and off the team since his Qualifying Round debut in 2006. But, when his game is as good as his guts, Markota and his undoubted talent make the entire team better and closer to victories.
