Croatia Pull Away To Top Slovenia

Stipe Cubric had 15 points and Mislav Brzoja collected a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in leading Croatia to a 60-50 victory over Slovenia in Group A of the U18 European Championship.

Croatia improved to 2-0 in the group also thanks to Marko Ramljak, who had seven points, 13 rebounds and four steals.

Luka Rupnik had 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Ziga Dimec tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds as Slovenia dropped to 0-2.

Slovenia actually grabbed the lead early with a 12-0 run for a 12-2 advantage, which was 16-8 after one quarter.

Croatia went on a 12-0 surge of their own in the second quarter to pull ahead 26-23 and it was 28-25 at halftime.

The game was back and forth in the third quarter with six lead changes and Croatia up 41-39 after three periods.

Croatia pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run for a  51-41 lead and then held Slovenia scoreless for 3:30 in opening a 56-45 cushion and hold on for the win.
