Greece Have No Answer For Croatia



Marko Ramljak and Mislav Brzoja both collected double-doubles to lead Croatia to a dominating 61-45 victory over Greece to open Group A play at the U18 European Championship Men.

Ramljak had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Brzoja had 12 and 10 for the Croatians, who also received 11 points and eight rebounds from Stipe Krstanovic.

Emmanouil Tselentakis paced Greece with 11 points and Giannoulis Larentzakis had 10 points in a losing effort.

Greece kept close in the early going, trailing just 9-7 before Croatia already started to pull away, going up 14-7 after one quarter.

The lead was 20-15 when the Croatians went on a 12-1 surge for a 32-16 lead at the break.

Croatia pushed the margin up to 21 points at 41-20 before the Greeks could pull within 43-28. The Croatian cushion was 45-28 after three periods.

The Greeks never really threatened in the fourth quarter and Croatia put them away for good with a 9-0 surge for their biggest lead, 60-34.
