Career: ZKK Medvescak (Croatia-A1, 2009-11)
Despite having only turned 17-years-old earlier this year, Ana-Marija Begic is now pushing for a place with the senior National Team having impressed in the past two years at the U16 European Championship Women. In 2009 she helped the team gain promotion from Division B while picking up a silver medal and last summer grabbed another silver medal in the top flight as Croatia reached the final. A promising talent with good shooting skills, there are high hopes from those involved with Croatian basketball that she can develop and play at the top level, though she still has some distance to go to live up to this billing. While EuroBasket Women 2011 may come a little too soon for her, a promising future for the center, who is dominant on the boards, seems to be lying in wait. She has also played in EuroCup Women and made her debut at the age of 15. |
