|Özge Kavurmacioglu posted against Slovenia her second double-double in the tournament and she now leads Turkey in both points and rebounds per game|
Turkey beat Slovenia, 66-58, on the last day of the Qualifying Round at the Global Vision U18 European Championship Women, to secure their presence in the Quarter-Finals.
Turkey dominated the game in the paint from where they scored 42 of their 66 points, and finished the game with 44 rebounds against only 30 from the opposite side.
In a game that saw only five lead changes, all of them in the first quarter, Turkey applied their usual tough defense and although the scoring was not great, they prevailed after all.
Ozge Kavurmazoglu finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds and was unstoppable in all one-on-one duels.
Dominated inside, Slovenia turned to outside shooting, but their terrible performance, 3-for-20, didn't help their case.
Slovenia closed the gap to six points, 61-55, with less than one minute remaining, after Ursa Zibert made her only three-pointer from seven attempts.
But Kavurmazoglu showed again she is a clutch player and immediately responded with a three-pointer of her own, and Turkey were already thinking of the Quarter-Finals.
The Turkish will finish third in Group E, no matter what the other results in today's games are, and they will play either Belgium or France in the Quarter-Finals.
