Veteran Katarzyna Krezel led the way for Poland with 17 points
Having missed out at EuroBasket Women 2013, a jubilant Poland secured a 65-51 success against Slovenia in the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round to reach the Final Round next summer.
Registering their fifth consecutive win in Group A, Jacek Winnicki and his unbeaten team cemented their place for Hungary and Romania thanks to 17 points from Katarzyna Krezel and a powerful defensive effort.
Holding Slovenia to a meagre 19 points in the first half, Poland laid the foundation to finish the task after the interval, although having led by as many as 14 points, their advantage was halved early in the third quarter.
A renaissance by Slovenia got them back to 31-24 after a downtown conversion from Eva Komplet, but Poland pulled away again with Krezel making a triple of her own to put her team 15 in front late in the period.
While an 11-2 run for Slovenia across the final quarter-break had the home favourites briefly wobbling, Poland composed themselves for down the stretch where they eased across the finishing line to spark the celebrations.
Teenager Eva Lisec had 11 points for the losing side.
