Katarina Tetemondová was the top-scorer for Slovakia
A stellar shooting effort from Katarina Tetemondova helped Slovakia to bounce back to winning ways as they collected a 66-52 Group A triumph against Slovenia in the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round.
Maros Kovacik and his team had went down in overtime during their previous outing against Poland, but there was to be much more daylight in this subsequent encounter - thanks mainly to 17 points from Tetemondova.
The versatile UE Sopron star headlined a comfortable win for the visitors by demonstrating her well balanced offensive firepower, drooping three triples and making four of five from inside the three-point line.
Slovakia led from tip to buzzer and benefitted from finding their touch from the outset, as Tetemondova handed them a double-digit advantage from downtown at 12-2 inside four minutes.
Once behind, the hosts couldn't bridge the gap and while a score got them back to within 31-27 just before the break, things unravelled in the third quarter.
Slovenia hit a damaging drought and when Slovakia held them to just six points in the period to stretch their lead to 55-35, it was to be too far back for the home team, even though they produced a late rally.
Zuzana Zirkova added 13 points and six assists for the winning team, while Sandra Pirsic had 11 points and seven rebounds in defeat.
