Russia and Montenegro will sign off their participation at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 by trying to claim fifth place on the final day of action after they claimed wins against Serbia and Ukraine.
A stunning 30 points from Vladimir Mihailovic and a blistering 20-6 opening quarter helped Montenegro put a tired looking Ukraine to the sword by 84-61.
There was a sense of disappointment for both teams as Russia and Slovenia left the court at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Makarska.
While Slovenia chalked up what was only their second triumph in the entire tournament with an 82-68 win, they still finish bottom of the group while Russia were condemned to a tough quarter-final against defending champions Greece.
Star man Alessandro Gentile has admitted anger at losing badly to Spain was the motivation for an impressive 80-65 win for Italy over Slovenia as the Azzurri breathed life back into their campaign at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Croatia.
Speaking after he recorded a game-high 22 points in Makarska, Gentile was already thinking ahead - both hoping and preparing himself for the possibility of a quarter final place and monumental challenge against defending champions Greece.
Points were definitely at a premium for France and Slovenia in Makarska at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 as both teams endured a horrific shooting night with France eventually grinding out a 50-43 victory thanks to a last minute surge.
Not that France will mind too much about their performance. This latest win means Les Bleus are the only team based in Makarska yet to taste defeat - although that could change sooner rather than later with games against Croatia and Spain up next.
