08 July 2009

Slovenia have been preparing for their U18 European Championship for Men title defense by taking part in a friendly tournament in Italy.

Dalibor Damjanović's side slipped up on July 3 against Serbia, 82-70 and then fell on July 4 to Italy, 92-66.

The Slovenians finished on a high note, however, by beating Bulgaria 68-58.

Shooting guard Mirza Sarajlija had 17 points to lead the Slovenians in the win over the Bulgarians.

He also had a team-high 14 points in the heavy defeat to Italy.

The U18 European Championship for Men will be in Metz from July 23 to August 2 and Slovenia will compete in Group A against the Serbians, hosts France and the Czech Republic.
