Slovakia Hot Streak Continues

Slovakia pulled away early in the third quarter to destroy Lithuania 79-53 n the qualifying round at the UMCOR U18 European Championship for Women.

Regina Palusna stayed hot with 17 points and seven rebounds for Slovakia.
Nikola Kovalova had a game-high 18 points while duo Janka Mincikova and Regina Palusna added 17 points apiece for the victors.

It marked Slovakia's second straight win in qualifying, having stunned Russia on Tuesday.

Slovakia delivered some telling blows late in the second quarter, breaking opening a close game.

Having led 38-31 after 15 minutes played, Lithuania were then hit with a 27-5 run (54-36).

Marina Solopova's three gave the Lithuanians a breather but it by no means sparked her team as Slovakia handed them another punch by going on a 9-0 surge.

Slovakia went into the last quarter with a 63-41 and ended up leading by as many as 30 points.

Lithuania were 20 of 60 (33.3%) from the floor while their opponents were 34 of 76 (44.7%).
