With EuroBasket 2009 entering its final two days Saturday was the perfect opportunity to introduce some of the key players in the organization of EuroBasket 2011 to take place in Lithuania in two years time.
Lithuania's Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Vygaudas Usackas joined FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin to visit with a room full of media interested in a first look at the events new official logo, and to view a video presentation detailing Lithuania's rich basketball history and introducing the host cities.
Ramunas Butautas stepped down as head coach of Lithuania following his team's 89-79 defeat against Serbia on the final day of EuroBasket 2009 Qualifying Round in Lodz.
The result saw Lithuania finish dead last in Group F with an 0-5 mark. Their only win of the entire tournament was in the Opening Round against Bulgaria.
Lithuania put up a huge fight but it wasn't enough to beat Milos Teodosic and Serbia who won their Qualifying Round Group F clash in Lodz, 89-79.
The result sealed third place for Dusan Ivkovic's men and set up a Quarter-Final showdown with Russia in Katowice.
Lithuania are in the unenviable position of having to play another game in EuroBasket Qualifying Round Group F despite having no chance of progressing to the Quarter-Finals.
Forty hard minutes are in front of them against Serbia, a side that has already qualified for the last eight but needs a win to improve its standing in Group F.
