Lithuania star Arvydas Macijauskas could still make the EuroBasket despite suffering from an injured leg muscle.
The 25-year-old shooting guard picked up the knock in last month's ProMonte Tournament in Serbia & Montenegro and is still feeling pain, but national team officer and director Algimantis Pavilonis has refused to rule him out of the European Championships later this month.
Pavilonis is aware of Macijauskas' powers of recovery and hopes he can make the tournament.
However, the former president of the Lithuanian basketball federation admits that ultimately the decision about whether the NBA rookie plays will rest with his new club, the New Orleans Hornets.
"First of all yes he has a big injury but we know that he is able to recover fast," Pavolinis told PA Sport.
"We need to establish contact with his club and talk to them to co-ordinate the situation because they have prohibited him from playing.
"So whether or not he plays in the EuroBasket depends on his club but first of all he has to recover and he has to be 100% fit in order to play."
