Team 2010-11: Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL) Career: Zalgiris-2 Kaunas (Lithuania-LKAL, 2002-03), Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL, 2003-09), Khimki Moscow Region (Russia-Superleague, 2009-10), Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL, 2010-11)
With the Lithuanian frontcourt hit by injuries last summer and having missed out at EuroBasket 2009, Paulius Jankunas grabbed his opportunity with both hands and produced some influential performances last summer. Having played a solitary season outside of Lithuania with Khimki during 2009/10, the forward was on home soil again last season and back patrolling the paint with Zalgaris. Jankunas is a relatively dynamic and quick forward who has plenty of options including nice range and some decent moves down low. Meanwhile defensively he is rock solid and when you also add in his willingness to work hard and rebound, it's not difficult to see why he is expected to again play a big part in this tournament after his success at the 2010 FIBA World Championship including a great display against Serbia in the bronze medal game. |
