Another of the veteran stars expected to dip their toes back into the waters of the National Team, Rimantas Kaukenas hasn't competed for Lithuania since the Beijing Olympics and that almost didn't happen after he only just won a race against time to recover from a serious knee injury sustained early in 2008. The past three years isn't the only gap on the record of the guard at this level as he also didn't feature in the four year period between EuroBasket 2003 and 2007. Most recently, he has poured his energies into playing with Real Madrid and Montepaschi Siena at club level, helping the latter to the Euroleague Final Four earlier this year. A reliable shooter who has lots of experience and plenty of court smarts, Kaukenas could make a big impact if he is given the opportunity to return for what is likely to be his swansong.
