Ukraine Claim Fifth Place, Turkey Seventh

Alina Iagupova and Olesia Malashenko combined for 45 points to lead Ukraine to an 82-64 victory over Lithuania to claim fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Burcu Cigli and Safiye Karaman both scored 13 points and Ozge Yavas added 12 points as Turkey knocked off Serbia 68-46 to finish seventh in the tournament.

Lithuania And Ukraine To Play For Fifth

Lithuania and Ukraine will face off for fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women after they beat Serbia and Turkey, respectively, in the 5th-8th place classification games.

Giedre Paugaite collected 19 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and four blocks in leading Lithuania to a 63-59 victory over Serbia. And Alina Iagupova had 26 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, six steals and three blocks as Ukraine beat Turkey 74-55.

Hobbled France Pull Together For Semi-Final Berth

Laurie Datchy scored nine of her game-high 22 points in a decisive 12-3 fourth quarter run to give France a 69-61 victory over Lithuania and a semi-final date with Russia at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Playing without injured leading scorer and rebounder Diandra Tchatchouang, Medelome Medenou added 13 points and Hhadydia Minte had five points, 11 rebounds and an inside basket to give France a 67-61 lead with 54 seconds to play.

Solopova Having Fun Winning With Lithuania

Marina Solopova shows a cameraman her arm looking for a confirmation of a hard foul. The gesture results in a referee warning from the Lithuania guard. But it's all part of the show for Solopova, who is pleasing basketball and entertainment fans at the U20 European Championship for Women.

"I like to have fun. I play for the public and the people who came to watch the game. And I think they like what they see," said Solopova, whose tournament-leading 22.2 points and team-leading 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals have guided Lithuania into a quarter-final showdown with France.
