Lithuania Outlast Russia, Finish Top

Five players scored in double digits as Lithuania outlasted Russia 82-78 to remain perfect in Group D of the U18 European Championship Men.

Simonas Kymantas had 12 points and 12 rebounds while Paulius Semaska scored 17 points, Martynas Paliukenas had 16 points, Osvaldas Olisevicius hit for 12 and Tomas Lekunas tallied 11 points.

Russia dropped to 1-2 in the group despite 21 points and 13 rebounds from Vladislav Trushkin while Gleb Goldyrev had 13 points and Pavel Khrebtov scored 12 points.

Russia scored the first nine points of the game and led 12-2 and were ahead 18-14 after one quarter.

The lead grew to 29-18 but Lithuania finished the first half on an 11-1 run to go into the break even 33-33.

Russia's 51-46 cushion was the biggest lead of the third quarter, which ended with the Russians ahead 58-54.

They led 59-54 before Lithuania went on an 18-3 run for a 72-62 lead with five minutes left and the Lithuanians made seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to ice the game.
