Latvia's bid to reach the podium at the EuroBasket has been damaged by the loss of Sandis Valters to a separated shoulder.
Valters, who turns 31 on August 31, suffered the injury during a friendly against Lithuania two weeks ago and test results have shown that he needs treatment on the injury and thus cannot play in Poland.
The shooting guard's loss means that Latvia will be without one of their most experienced players in Poland.
Latvia have travelled to Turkey to take part in the Efes Pilsen World Cup with a 13-man squad.
Latvia squad: Uvis Helmanis, Aigars Vitols, Armands Skele, Janis Blums, Kristaps Valters, Kristaps Janicenoks, Andris Biedrins, Kaspars Berzins, Ernests Kalve, Rolands Freimanis, Arturs Stalbergs, Gatis Jahovics, Kaspars Kambala.
