Career: Metropole Talsi (Latvia-LBL, 1994-98), BK Ventspils (Latvia-LKL, 1998-2002), Slovan Ljubljana (Slovenia-1A, 2002-03), Barons Riga (Latvia-LBL, 2003), BK Skonto Riga (Latvia-LBL, 2003), BK Ventspils (Latvia-LBL, 2003-05).
One of the most consistent players for almost ten years has seen his role get bigger and bigger with the national team... During last September’s qualifying games he was fourth in scoring, displaying great accuracy from behind the three-point line (55.6%)... Vitols is also a very tough defensive player and uses his strong frame to disrupt the opposing players, whether they play point-guard, shooting guard or small-forward... This versatility makes him a great asset for any team and particularly BK Ventspils with whom he won five LBL championships... Vitols played almost all his career in his homeland as he had only a brief six games stint with Slovan Ljubljana in 2002 before going back to Latvia where he is a regular participant in the All-Star Game.
