march into next summer's European Championships.

Latvia split their two meetings with Slovakia, but clinch first place by virtue of an overall superior points difference in the games. They lost 91-86 in Kosice but on Wednesday in Riga triumphed 90-77.

The German and Lithuanian women clinched their places at the Eurobasket in Turkey. Germany claimed an 82-68 triumph over Belgium in Freiburg, while Lithuania were 80-78 victors at Hungary. Linda Frohlich and Dorothea Richter each had 16 points for the Germans, who

Romania, the only side to beat the Germans, can equal their record of five wins and one defeat in Group C if they prevail in their final match at Israel.

But Germany have a better point differential between the two sides in their head-to-head meetings.

Lithuania have won Group A with five wins and just one defeat.
