Rihards Lomazs shone for Latvia with 14 points as the hosts closed the second round with a win
Latvia have said goodbye to their home fans at the Dadu U16 European Championship Men in style, defeating Turkey 77-68.
Unfortunately the win is of little consequence to the Latvians who were already destined for the classification games for ninth to 12th place following their loss to Croatia an evening previous.
The Latvians recorded their best start to a game at the tournament to date, storming out to a 32-10 lead on the back of eight first-quarter points from Rinalds Malmanis, putting themselves in a comfortable position for the remainder of the game.
Making 19 turnovers, Turkey were made to pay with Latvia capitalising, picking up 28 points from the Turks' mistakes.
Malmanis ended the night with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double. Gustavs Treimanis helped out with 17 points whilst Rihards Lomazs and Ricards Melderis both added 14.
Okben Ulubay lead Turkey with 13 points.
Both teams now cross the border into Lithuania for the next phase of the tournament.
