Injuries have kept Vecvagars on the side-lines for over a year now, but the talented 21-year-old Latvian prospect was invited to work out with the national team regardless. Having moved to Lithuania to play for Zalgiris Kaunas five years ago, the Latvian point guard had only just cracked the Euroleague team's rotation before suffering a season-ending ACL injury in January of 2014. The knee did not heal properly and he had to undergo another surgery at the end of the year again. Despite his recent injury woes, coach Bagatskis is ready to give the youngster a chance. Known for his shooting, especially from mid-range, Vecvagars will need to prove that he hasn't lost his quickness and feel for the game after being out for such a long time.
