|With Latvia lacking size inside, Alen Omic and the rest of the Slovenia frontline wreaked havoc under the basket at both ends of the floor|
Slovenia started the Second Round of the U20 European Championship by edging Latvia, 69-62, to remain one of the two teams yet to taste defeat in the tournament.
Latvia had a 45-44 lead in the end of the third quarter, when Slovenia went on a 9-0 run to jump ahead by six points and take the momentum.
Slovenia once again used their big advantage inside and out-rebounded their opponents, 36-26, with Alen Omic and Marko Pajic leading the game with seven boards each.
Omic was also the top-scorer for Slovenia with 14 points, while Matej Rojc and Gezim Morina chipped in with 11 points each.
Janis Timma had a game-high 17 points for Latvia, while Ojars Silins added 15 points and six rebounds, but the undersized Baltic team had no answers inside.
On Tuesday, Slovenia will aim to continue their unbeaten run against Turkey, while Latvia will take on Lithuania in the Baltic derby.
