|If Ojars Silins could be any player, he would be Andrei Kirilenko - but you can be sure he wouldn't be playing with number 5 if he had the choice|
FIBAEurope.com attempted to trap Ojars Silins, one of the Latvian team leaders, with its mighty Half-Court Press after a tough overtime loss to Turkey to find out more about his personality.
But the power forward, who had 24 points in the game, performed just as well off the court.
Despite the understandably disappointing defeat Silins remains positive and smiles throughout the interview.
FE.com: What's your first basketball memory?
Ojars Silins: I remember shooting the ball outside as a kid. When I started to play basketball, I understood that shooting is my thing. When I was a child, I only cared about how I played. Now, the most important thing for me is the team.
Who is the most mature of your teammates and who is the most... childish?
The most childish person has to be our big man Elvis Saulitis. I think Andris Misters and Janis Timma are the most mature.
Which is the best basketball game you've ever played in or watched?
USA against Spain, the 2008 Olympic Games final, in Beijing.
What would it mean for you to play for Latvia's senior team in the future?
It is definitely one of my goals for the future.
There's only two seconds left on the shot-clock, do you pass the ball or shoot?
It really depends on the play, but if I had the ball I think I would shoot. Two seconds... There's just too little time to pass!
Who is the best European player in your eyes?
Andrei Kirilenko. Just like him, I like doing a little bit of everything.
How do you imagine basketball in ten years?
I think it's going to be much more physical, much faster. Ten years ago it wasn't like it is now.
Which part of training you like less?
Name which of the following you have never used in your life: A. Audio cassette player. B. Facebook website C. MP3 Player
Audio...or actually, I've used all three. Even the audio cassette!
What kind of music do you enjoy the most?
Little bit of everything - starting with Linkin Park, a little bit of rap, hip-hop.
Do you know how to cook and what would you cook for your coach if he ate dinner at your house?
I can cook a little bit. Like an omelette. I'd probably offer the coach an omelette with some potatoes!
Is there any reason behind why you're wearing jersey number five?
I didn't choose it. They just gave it to me. I usually wear number 10.
