Having missed the qualification round last year, Babkina is expected to be back to lead the team at EuroBasket Women this summer, like she did with a team-high 14.4 points-per-game two years ago in Poland. It turned out to be a roller-coaster first major tournament for Babkina, finishing top of both the assists and turnover categories. She has been a recognised talent since her youth, representing her country at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing whilst still a teenager. She can score, pass and generally pull the strings, making her one of the leaders of this young team. Energetic and sometimes exuberant in her decision-making, she's usually great fun to watch. At club level she has won plaudits and championships in Poland; played in the EuroLeague Women Final Eight with Fenerbahce; and taken on a key role at Targoviste. However, last season she struggled for court time with USK Prague.
