Photo Finish, Latvia Capture Bronze
Latvia’s amazing tournament has ended with a bronze medal after they beat Lithuania 74-72 in the last second of the most finely balanced game of the tournament.

Lithuania led from the start of the third quarter until just 19 seconds remained in the game before Latvia took a two point lead through Janis Kaufmanis.

Serbia Into Final
Serbia have booked the first place in this year’s final after digging out a big 82-71 win against a battling Latvia.

A last quarter surge from the Serbians, led again by a mammoth Milan Macvan with 20 points and 15 rebounds, saw off a brave challenge from the Latvians after neither team had been able to command in the first three phases of the game.

Greece Remain Undefeated

Greece have the only unbeaten run left in the tournament as they beat Latvia 83-73 in an entertaining and fast flowing game that puts them top of Group E with Latvia second.

Their star man Konstantinos Koufos again stole the show with 30 points and 13 rebounds, but was assisted admirably by Charalampos Giannopoulos with 21 points and nine boards.

Latvia Continue Run

The surprise run of the tournament hasn’t lost it legs as Latvia won their fifth game of the tournament against Turkey with a 73-68 victory which came down to the dying seconds.

After Turkey started brightly the game turned into a contest in the second quarter and was more or less tied from three minutes before half-time until the very final seconds, with neither side able to pull away until Can Özcan missed a three pointer for Turkey with two seconds left and the score at 71-68 to Latvia
