Serbia, Germany remain in Division A

Serbia and Germany both secured their spots in Division A for next summer's Termosteps U16 European Championship Women by notching their second victories in the Classification Round.

Snezana Colic scored 22 points and swiped six steals as Serbia beat Latvia 72-59, and Finja Schaake's 20 points paced four players in double figures in Germany's 83-26 win over Ukraine.

Both teams improved to 2-0 in the relegation round and cannot be overtaken by either Latvia or Ukraine - both of whom are 0-2 and face off in the final game day before being dropped to Division B for 2009.

Natasa Kovacevic scored 11 points while Jelena Repic added 10 points for Zoran Kovacic's Serbia team, which used a 13-2 run in the third period to open a 35-21 gap. And Latvia would not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Latvia got 13 points and 12 rebounds from Laura Ozolina as well as 13 points from Anete Kirsteine and 11 from Katrina Epnere while Kristiana Stauere chipped in 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Germany had Sonja Greinacher collect 15 points and 15 rebounds while Christina Schnorr and Jani Martinius each scored 10.

Alexandra Maerz's team blew the game wide open in the second quarter, holding Ukraine to just two points in the period and going into half-time ahead 44-13.

Ukraine, who committed 36 turnovers, had 11 points from Darya Zavidna.
