With a dominating fourth quarter finish, Sweden took down Latvia 72-62 to win the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division B title in Finland.
Going into the fourth quarter trailing 58–50, Sweden outscored Latvia 22-4 in the last ten minutes of the game to cap off a remarkable comeback which enabled them to claim the gold medal.
Latvia's Aneta Steinberga was elected MVP of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division B after Sunday's final.
Steinberga, a 185 cm center, was a dominant inside presence for Latvia throughout the tournament.
Latvia earned a spot in the final of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Divison with victory over Romania.
The win also sees Latvia gain promotion to Division A next year.
Anete Steinberga missed a last gasp shot which would have lifted Latvia to victory over Slovenia at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division B.
However, Slovenia's 78-77 win was not enough to earn a semi-final berth and it is Latvia who advance to Saturday's semi where they will take on Romania.
