UMMC Ekaterinburg opened their EuroLeague Women Group B campaign with a resounding 85-43 victory over injury-hit USK Prague on Wednesday.

The home side, who won the competition in 2003, opened a commanding 22-9 lead after the first period and never looked like relinquishing their advantage.

The Russians were superior in every facet of the game with Polish forward Agnieszka Bibrzycka top scoring with 21 points.

France center Sandrine Gruda, who spoke beforehand about aiming to make up for her country's disappointing eighth-placed finish at the EuroBasket, started to do just that, pouring in 19 points and pulling down two rebounds.

Australian Kristi Harrower was another to have a strong all-round game for the victors, leading Ekaterinburg in rebounds (six) and assists (nine).

Gruda's countrywoman Sandra Le Drean led the visitors with 11 points but it looks like being another long campaign for the Czech Republic side.
