Galatasaray Blow Out Ramat-Hasharon

Galatasaray brushed aside Electra Ramat-Hasharon on Thursday to reach the semi-finals of the EuroCup Women.

Leading 74-69 after the first leg in Israel, the Istanbul outfit romped to a 70-53 victory at home for a 24-point triumph on aggregate.

Two players tore apart Ramat-Hasharon on this occasion.

Turkish guard Esra Sencebe made five of seven shots from behind the arc en route to a game-high 20 points, while Petra Ujhelyi had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The visitors struggled against the vaunted defense of Galatasaray early on and trailed 37-22 after a lay-up by Ujhelyi, the star player in the first encounter.

Elektra responded by going on an 8-0 run that bridged the end of the second quarter and the start of the third.

The spurt was capped with a tap-in by Daliborka Vilipic, and it left the Israeli club trailing by seven in the game and 12 on aggregate.

Another Vilipic lay-up with 7:31 remaining reduced the arrears to 41-35, but that's where Ramat-Hasharon's comeback attempt died.

The hosts hit their opponents with an 18-1 run for a 59-36 stranglehold on proceedings with just over 11 minutes remaining, and Cem Akdag's Galatasaray cruised the rest of the way.
