Pecs 2010 slugged it out with Spanish heavyweights Halcon Avenida in Salamanca on Monday night but eventually fell in the EuroLeague Women play-off game, 76-60.
The Hungarian outfit, which earned a place in the Eighth-Finals on the last night of the Qualifying Round, stayed within striking distance for 37 minutes.
The leading scorer of the team, Alexandria Quigley, hit a three-pointer to cut the Avenida advantage to 64-57 with 3:00 remaining.
Avenida then punished them at the other end.
Silvia Dominguez made the first of two free-throws but missed the second.
Avenida didn't box out Spain international Alba Torrens who grabbed the offensive board and passed to teammate Erika.
The Brazilian pivot hit a jumper for a 67-57 Avenida lead.
Torrens then picked off a pass by Dalma Ivanyi and hit a jumper before getting fouled on her team's next possession and sinking two free-throws.
Pecs didn't have enough time to recover and will now look to get back on level terms on Friday when they host the second game of the series.
Erika had 16 points while Anke De Mondt and Torrens contributed 15 each.
Torrens had a whale of a game as she also corralled 10 rebounds, more than any other player in the contest.
Sancho Lyttle was excellent for Avenida, too, scoring 13 points, hauling in nine boards and coming up with a game-high four steals.
Quigley led all scorers with 22 points for Pecs.
