Pécs 2010 gave themselves a fighting chance to reach the EuroLeague Women play-offs with a 66-62 road win over USO Mondeville.
The young Hungarian squad won for the second time in its last three games and moved level with Mondeville, who also have three wins in eight Group A games.
The French club lost for the fourth consecutive game in Europe but at least salvaged something from the evening as it still has a better goal differential in its meetings with Pécs after winning the first encounter 70-58 on November 11.
Hungary point guard Zsófia Fegyverneky had 18 points for Pécs, who were tied at 62-62 with 1:06 to go after a three-ball by Mondeville's revelation of the season, Valeriya Berezhynska.
The 24-year-old Berezhynska had 22 points in the game and not only sank both of her shots from the arc but also buried all eight of her free-throws.
Fegyverneky went to the other end and answered with a three to put her side into a 65-62 lead.
Lenae Williams then missed from the arc for Mondeville but had another opportunity to tie the game after a turnover by the visitor's Dalma Ivanyi.
Williams missed again and Pecs grabbed the rebound before adding a free-throw for the final.
In their last two games, Mondeville will square off against Cras Basket Taranto (7-1), who have already clinched first place in Group A, and TTT Riga (1-7).
Pécs will be at home for their last two games against Good Angels Kosice (5-3) and Cras.
