|Obie Trotter had 26 points to help Szolnoki Olaj secure the Hungarian Cup title|
Szolnoki Olaj will be aiming for a glorious conclusion to their EuroChallenge campaign when they host the Final Four in just over two weeks.
This club had better not be underestimated going into the season-ending showpiece event as it proved yet again this week by winning the Hungarian Cup.
Obie Trotter, the team's talisman and naturalized Hungary international, poured in 26 points to lead Szolnoki past Atomeromu SE, 85-75.
To reach the Final, Szolnoki had to win a close Semi-Final against Kormend, a game that was tied at the end of the third quarter.
Szolnoki forged ahead in the last frame for an 88-76 victory.
"The key to victory in the second half was that we switched defenses, and we attacked more rapidly than before," Szolnoki head coach Peter Por said.
Julien Mills had 22 points and Marton Bader scored 19 while also corralling nine rebounds in that semi-final triumph.
After winning the Final, Por saluted those who had given made a huge difference.
"The fans were amazing," he said.
Szolnoki, who captured a Hungarian league and cup double last season, square off against a star-studded Besiktas on 27 April in Debrecen, the opening day of the EuroChallenge Final Four.
Besiktas won the Turkish Cup.
