Gravelines Pull Clear To Go Through

BCM Gravelines Dunkerque claimed their place in the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge with an 82-71 win over Szolnoki Olaj.

The two teams went head-to-head in northern France for second place in Group A, and it was the hosts who came out on top behind 21 points from Julius Johnson.

They led almost throughout, but the visitors never stopped battling, staying in close touch and managing to draw level, 58-58, when Akos Horvath drained a three-pointer for the first basket of the final quarter.

But Jeffrey Greer responded with back-to-back three pointers.

Although Ivory Clark hit a three-ball for Szolnoki, Yannick Bokolo made a lay-up and two free throws to further pad Dunkerque's lead.

From there, they managed to hold Szolnoki at arm's length the rest of the way, scoring the final four points of the game to make sure of a critical victory.

Cyril Akpomedah scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Dunkerque, while Benjamin Woodside added 16 points and Greer finished with 12.

Horvath led Szolnoki with 19 points, while Obie Trotter added 18 and Clark 17.

The defeat completes a stunning collapse for Szolnoki, who had been expected to wrap up second place last week, only to be upset by BC NN.
