Szolnoki Olaj showed they have well and truly recovered from their opening night mauling at Spartak St Petersburg by ending the Russian club's unbeaten start to the season.

On Tuesday night, the Hungarian club broke open a close game in the second quarter when they outscored Zvi Sherf's team 28-9 for a 57-36 lead and then cruised to an 88-72 win.

Akos Horvath finished with 20 points for the victors, who improved to 3-1.

Obie Trotter and Marton Bader each had 19 points for the winners with Trotter also dishing out eight assists.

The margin of victory wasn't enough to give the Hungarian side the better goal differential in the head-to-head meetings with the two teams, which could be important if tie-breakers are called into play at the end of the Regular Season.

Spartak had won the first encounter 88-70.

Nikola Dragovic and Dijon Thompson scored 14 points apiece for Spartak.
