Fenerbahce beat Wisla Can-Pack 78-61 at home on Tuesday in the opening clash of their eighth-finals showdown in the EuroLeague Women play-offs.

USA international Cappie Pondexter poured in a game-high 22 points for the Turkish outfit, which also got a big contribution from Tammy Sutton-Brown.

Sutton-Brown had 20 points on eight-of-nine (88.8%) shooting inside the arc.

The hosts led 55-37 at half-time but Wisla managed to cut the deficit 63-55 with eight minutes left in the game.

Led by the hot hands of Pondexter and Sutton-Brown, Fenerbahce went on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to stamp their authority on proceedings for good.

Spanish international Marta Fernandez, who has been voted in as a starter for the European team at the EuroLeague Women All Star Game, and American shooting guard Anna De Forge led Wisla in scoring with 13 points apiece.

Fenerbahce were superior shooting the ball on the night. They were 27 of 57 (47.3%) from the floor while the Polish outfit were 20 of 63 (31.7%).

Fenerbahce travel to Poland on February 8 for the second game.
